ARIKAWA SHIGEO

Born in 1982. Currently resides in Tokyo. Graduated from the Tokyo National University of the Arts (Musical Creativity and the Environment Course). Through the frame of photography and video media, Shigeo creates elements that are subtly metamorphosing, or vague, though appearing distinctly. IGARASHI TOMOKO

Tomoko focuses on characteristics of visual media. Her video works include Frog, off the ground (up-and-coming FILM FES 2007) which uses negative film as a motif, and Time-Layer Photography that uses stills generated from moving images.

IKEDA YASUNORI

Born in 1976 in Fukushima.
Yasunori Ikeda's works include an impromptu-created “MOSAIC” (2001 with Masakazu Saito), a documentary “7×7” (2004) which is composed of footages taken over the course of 49 days, and “Man of Soil 3 portraits” (2009) in which characters are portrayed by images based on a narration.Ikeda continues to screen at festivals around the world including documentary, narrative and experimental films.

ISHIKAWA TAMAGAWA

Born in 1983. Currently resides in Tokyo. Graduated from Meiji Gakuin University, Visual Arts Course (studied under YOMOTA Inuhiko). Completed the sound/visual expression class at Bigakko (studied under ITO Atsuhiro. KUDO Hiromi). While working on film programming at a movie theater in Tokyo, Tamagawa continues to perform as well as make Brnm films. His films consist of voice-over narration of poems and letters, which are shown at live recitals or performances. UEMINE SATOSHI

Born in Kagoshima in 1981. Currently resides in Gifu. Graduated from IAMAS. Satoshi’s silent film Sea of Tranquility was shot in Hokkaido and released on the Sol Chord label. UDA ATSUKO

Born in Kanagawa in 1973. Currently resides in Kamakura. Atsuko is the chief contents producer of Doga Mawari. She makes digital contents utilizing the touch and texture of analog media. Her works include the short animation anthology Tokyo Loop / episode 7: Tokyo (produced by Image Forum, 2006) and the picture book Kono Ana Kuguruto Donaruno (published in the magazine Okina Pocket by Fukuinkan Shoten Publishers, Inc). OKI HIROYUKI

Born in Tokyo in 1964. Currently resides in Kochi. Graduated from the Department of Architecture, University of Tokyo. Hiroyuki began making films while at school, and his works have been invited to various film festivals including Berlin international Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival. Joined art exhibitions such as Roppongi Crossing (Mori Art Museum, 2004) and The Door into Summer: The Age of Micropop (Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito,2007). Born in Gunma in 1977. Graduated from IAMAS. Noriyuki makes live action films and photography which focus on the relationships between technology and the body. SAITO MASAKAZU

Born in Osaka in 1976. Currently lives in Gifu. Masakazu produces video works that explore the diverse potential for wielding the medium with the use of digital technology, including the use of automated editing software. Born in 1981 in Kumamoto. Currently lives in Tokyo. Completed a course at IAMAS. He presents his work in the context of the popularization of generating, editing, and accessing digital photography with computers. TAKASHI TOSHIKO

Born in Osaka. Currently resides in ltami, Hyogo. After experiencing several occupations, Toshiko made Ode I and Oishi Apartments, Nishi-Tengachaya (Yamagata international Documentary Film Festival. 1999) in 1998. After making Blessed -Shukufuku (Visions du Reel - international Film Festival, 2002), she continues to shoot her surroundings. She regularly holds premiere screenings at Gallery Maki (Kayaba-cho, Tokyo) and Kobe Planet Film Archive.

TAKAMINE TADASU

Born in Kagoshima in 1968. Currently resides in Shiga, Japan. Artist and director. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, majoring in Urushi Craft. Completed a course at IAMAS. TSUBAKIZAKI KAZUO

Born in Goto Island, Nagasaki, Nagasaki, Kazuo now resides in Kobe. Kazuo started drawing at 25 years old. His diverse work experiences in an iron mill, a Japan Railway car factory, and a pharmaceutical company make him a unique painter. His art work includes 3D works made of scrap wood, woodwork, woodcut printings.

NAKAZAWA AKI

Currently resides in Cologne. Aki is involved in visual media as a curator and filmmaker. The award-winning “Drawing wishes”(2006) was screened in numerous film festival around the world including Berlin International Film Festival, WRO’07.

NAGATA OSAMU

Born in Okayama. After learning photography in Kobe, Osamu traveled all over the world. After traveling in Asia and Europe, he then resided in New York and Mexico for a long period of time. Once he returned to Japan, he worked at a photo studio and published a zine called “SANPO” capturing the landscape of ever-changing downtown Kobe and Osaka.

NISHIMURA TOMOMI

Born in Yamaguchi in 1978. Currently resides in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, majoring
in painting. Completed a primary course of documentary at The Film School of Tokyo. Mainly works on
portrait photography. Tomomi recently explores installations combining photography with texts. He is a member of Kiku Project, the visual production team since 2004.

HAYASHI YUKI

Born in Kyoto in 1976. Currently resides in Hyogo. He started making visual art from 1997. He has
presented his works at different exhibitions and film festivals both at home and abroad, including a solo
exhibition Arukoro being/something at Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in 2011. Taking a massive amount
of pictures, he imports them to the computer, then cuts and treats them to make animations. The whole
process and completed works reminds one of the modern means of communication consisting of web and

HOMMA MURYO

Born in 1981. Currently resides in Chiba. A graduate of the International Academy of Media Arts and
Sciences. "60H" is a series of 1 minute duration single cuts, filmed every hour and then looped for 60
consecutive hours. Homma is member of Rhizomatiks.

MAEDA SHINJIRO

Born 1969. Currently resides in Gifu. Filmmaker. Shinjiro started creating visual works with video media in the early 1990s. showing them at film festivals and exhibitions both at home and abroad. He also actively
collaborates with artists outside of his field, including some from contemporary and performing arts. Since
2005, he has overseen a live-action DVD label “SOL CHORD” with the concept of “connecting the act of

Born in 1978. Currently resides in Osaka. Hiroshi makes a wide range of art including visuals, sounds,

composer. Taro mainly writes algorithmic instrumental music. He recently wrote Series of Musicinema (the ninth for musicinema, International Festival for Arts and Media Yokohama 2009) combined with visuals. Lately
he collaborates with artists such as theater group, faifai. Currently he teaches part-time at Tokyo University

WAKAMI ARISA

Born in Aichi. Currently resides in Tokyo. Arisa began making experimental visuals and animations while in
school. She studied under IIMURA Takahiko. Her work is based on observations of our deeper

TANJC

Born in 1976. Currently resides in Kyoto. Identifying himself as Chinese Malaysian, Tan is a contemporary
artist and multimedia arts creator. He is fond of the integration of artistic forms. The distinctive feature of
his artistic expression can be traced to the combination of digital interactive installations and analog
technology. Tan's representative works include Fluid City (live protection of water and oil), Gel City (interactive
projection mapping) among others. His first computer animated short film, Snowland, won the Award of Digital
